President Obama doesn’t seem to like the guys too much. Use ’em, yeah, but whether it’s voting (where his appointees did all they could to quash the overseas military vote) to promised benefits (where he plans to throw vets into the bonuses-for-denied-claims gig pit of Tricare), or to answering their calls for help (in Benghazi), he usually seems to come down on the opposite side.
Now, he holds some White House gala or something to suck up to an unusual guest of honor: Korean rapper “Psy.” Psy is best known for his catchy “Gangnam Style” rap and video. But here’s some more of Psy’s lyrics:
Kill those fucking Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives
Kill those fucking Yankees who ordered them to torture
Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers
Kill them all slowly and painfully
This is the kind of stuff that made him popular in the first place, in South (and for all we know, North) Korea.
As Fox News’s Red Eye panel noted, if he’d insulted gay marriage, that would be something the President would never forgive. Wanting troops and their kids dead? He’s not only cool with it, he takes his little princesses along to share in the holiday message.
Hey, we’ve got a great idea. Let’s bring all those “fucking Yankees” back home and let Psy and his ingrate countrymen try their luck with Kim Jong Un. Last we looked, the Kim dynasty’s leadership periodically spawns famines and cannibalism, but it’s 100% Yankee-free. We wish you the joy of that. We’ll buy popcorn.
Now that it may cost Psy some reputation (not that an entertainer’s reputation is worth much), or money (his real motivation), he has issued an abject and insincere apology. “I’m deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted,” the singer’s publicity people sent out over his signature. We dunno, we’re looking at “kill them all slowly and painfully” and we’re not seeing a lot of wiggle room for interpretation there.
In any event, even before the apology, the President’s office said a little thing like the star wanting to massacre our troops and their families “slowly and painfully” would not prevent the President from attending and enjoying the show. And it didn’t.
But hey, he supports the troops.
Slowly, and painfully.
